Cupcakes

Made these for the homeless at The Lighthouse last Friday. First time baking so many cupcakes, 78 altogether. Took me 2 nights of baking and 1 hr to do the frosting. I was satisfied.

60+ folks turned up for tea that day. Average age is 60 and mostly Chinese so I was worried that they wont eat the cake as most Chinese old folks dont fancy cakes (e.g my mum and ex babysitter. they will only take pandan chiffon cake).

Well, they finished everything.... : ). One old woman did not like it and I saw her  crumbling the half eaten cupcake into her palm. Sorry aunty. Next time I bring 'ang koo'. There was this Indian uncle who took a bite then stared at the cake for quite some time. He looked sad and far away. Then he threw the cake into the dustbin. Oh.... it must have reminded him of somebody.

The volunteers commented that the cake was good and one of them asked me what else do I bake : ) and if I am coming back again.

Why chocolate cupcakes? Simply because I want these folks to taste good stuff.... it was moist chocolate cupcakes.

see's candies

life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get.. we got a box of 12 assorted truffles from someone who came back from the states on a visit. some got crushed during the trip back to pg... but i'm not complaining,
some of the fruit flavoured ones were too intense for me and i did not like them at all.
too complicated for my tastebuds.
i'm all for simplicity.
