eastern wishes @ i-avenue

i actually came here before with some friends but i could not for the life of me remember what i ate. this time around, i came with elpea and we already planned what to eat as she remembered what was good when she came last with her office mates. appetizer was a plate of crispy black pepper squid. this finished pretty fast.
i took the belacan rice. it was pretty good.
elpea opted for the tomyam noodles.
i'm actually very picky for tomyam, i normally only eat the one in the sunshine sq market or at relocated bayan bay coffeeshop.
BUT, i was actually very much surprised that the bowl of tomyam was much better than any of the ones i've tasted before. the soup was very good, not too sour and not to spicy... and the deep fried fish slices were fresh. nuff said.
my iced lemon tea and elpea's chrysanthemum tea.
  • tomyam soup noodle 7.90
  • belacan rice 6.90
  • crispy black pepper squid 10.00
  • ice lemon tea 2.90
  • chrysanthemum tea 2.00
  • total 29.60
the food was good, the service was fast and the price was reasonable as well.
overall experience is 4/5.

teow chew meng

its hard to find a meal around 5pm in town... its way past lunch and not dinner yet and most coffee shops are already closed or just beginning to open.

so there we were driving around new lane, abu siti, lrg selamat and could not find a place that was ry-bran-friendly and so that's how we ended up in teow chew meng in lorong selamat.

i was a bit hesitant at first as i had a few mediocre experiences at TCM in sunwaytunas but i was actually surprised with the food at this branch.

my tomyam maggi with fried fish, which i quite liked. the fish tasted fresher and the soup was much tastier. dad's oyster noodles- looks quite yummy.. will try this next time
elpea's all time favourite mee-suah-kor...
she said it was much thicker, which is as it should be.
the other things we ordered... TCM special fried rice which ry had.
seafood rolls- this is always a favourite and the 1st be go.
prawn fritters- it was actually quite light and quite nice as well.
the last 2 went very well with or without the chili sauce dips.

fried rice at home

We had leftover rice and the stuff from the steamboat so elpea whipped up a very good dinner on Saturday. Simple and satisfying.

She made fried rice with eggs, Taiwan sausage and sliced cabbage.

The rice was just nice and I liked the crunchiness of the sliced cabbage. Taiwan sausaes taste great as well.

She also made soup with all the meatballs and dumplings. This was for ry as he needs soup with his rice. I didn’t go for the soup but instead ate the stuff in the soup.

I could not decide what to eat 1st as I love fried rice and I also love meatballs/dumplings. Very satisfied.. Thank you dear.. I can eat this everyday.
