7 village restaurant @ raja uda

this place has been around for quite a while and its situated in raja uda on the mainland.

though the restaurant has been here for years already i'm not sure why elpea never took me here to eat before. well, better late than never, right?

7 village noodle house specialises in...welll... noodles, what else. :-)

we were there for lunch and ordered the house speciality, noodles both dry and soupy.

everyone else here was eating either one of these.

the dry la mian, $6

i found this quite nice. the serving was huge.

the koay teow noodle soup, $3

not for me as i'm not really a fan.

elpea commented that it was only so-so.

both her and #1 did not finish theirs.

the lohbak, $1.5 per pc and the kwan jiang, $0.8 per pc

the lohbak was a tad too soft for me and the kwan jiang was not what i'm used to.

also, when we arrived, we were not given any menu.

seriously...

apparently, they dont have menu's and as its actually on the wall.

the lady was spouting off the menu like a rocket by hard.

i actually wanted to order more appetizers but i had no idea what to order until much much later when i saw the menu on the wall. by then, i didnt bother. their loss not mine.

anyway, back to the food...

the dry lamian noodles serving like i said was huge with meat slices, fish balls, a literal fistful of minced meat and topped with a runny half boiled egg.

the dry la mian itself was excellent, with very good springy texture but the egg made it super rich.

i actually tried the lamian without mixing in the egg and i found that it taste better.

but again, thats just my personal preferences.

overall, 6/10 but only for the dry lamian.

manila place @ gurney plaza

We were planning to go to A&W for lunch but it looks like it was not meant to be. Gurney was under renovation and that whole restaurant wing was closed. Actually we looked at the new shop listing but A&W does not seem to be on the new list. Closed?

So anyway we walked around and decided on “manila place” as we’ve never been there before.

Quite cozy place and it was 60% packed.

Ry had the kid’s meal of boneless chicken with mushroom sauce and fries.

Elpea had the soup in a bun thing.

I had the fried soba noodle. Nothing very spectacular.

Elpea had the iced peach tea, I had the iced lemon tea and ry had the orange juice.

They actually had a separate menu for drinks and dessert. And they served pancake and crepes. Yummy.

We chose the mango crepe for dessert. It was choc full of mango slices which elpea said could be better.

We were too tham chiak that we forgot take more photos

We were served quite fast and overall food was average.

And this is the 1^st time ry finished the whole kids meal by himself.

Price was quite reasonable as well ~$70.
