duckrice@ carnavon st

The last time we were here was about 1 year ago. we were too hungry, we forgot to take photos
I consider this one of the best duck rice shops in penang.
why you ask?
well, other places i go to because of the rice or chilli sauce (yes, weird i know..)
but this place, its all about the duck.
delicious crispy roast duck.
The duck here is always excellent. The meat is very juicy, tender and full of flavor.
There was actually very little fat and the skin was nice and crispy
Same goes for bbq-pork, char siew.
Both taste great even without the chilli sauce.
We took a plate for 2 and its was huge.
We had to wait quite a while as it was lunch time and they were serving nonstop.
Lucky we even got a table.The food was worth the wait.
oh yea.. the complimentary soup.
Elpea felt that the sauce for the charsiew was a bit too sweet though.
okaaay... it was but i still liked it :-)
I give it 5/5.

I will drop plan A to bake cotton cheesecake...the outcome is so volatile. Now will go for plan B

Our dinner

We had this yesterday for dinner after rejecting d hosp food. Not sure how many are aware that Kfc does not serve coke... They serve pepsi... Or those drinks manufactured by Permanis.

I opted for d snack plate without d drink n got the coke from Happy mart. Infact it is cheaper ; ) and I got a drink that was not diluted with ice.

Let's take a vote A or B

Okay folks... let's take a vote today. Which would you go for? A or B?

Set A - Vegetarian Meatballs & Stir Fried Vege with Porridge


Set B - Gardenia Butterscotch Bread


I go for B and I have been eating that for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the past 2 days. After being served meal A on day 1, I have told them not to send any breakfast, lunch or dinner to our room. Btw, I am having a retreat @ a 5 star hospital (nicely put).

Everyday I see food being wasted. Sad. Come on ppl, if you dont like the food (who would?) please stop taking and waste the food later. It is a sin... there are so many homeless and poor who are without food.

The hospital caterer is also another one. Dont you folks do survey and see what people like to eat? Vegetarian does not mean bad food. Hmmm maybe I should just go snap some pics of the food thrown away or left uneaten (after a few mouths) and send them to the hosp admin. Yes... I shall go do that.

Recipe book

Found this book among my other stuffs. Bought this book many years back when all that I cooked was instant noodles. I had a vision then to be an aspired cook for my husband - that lucky guy ; p

I cook this every other week. Don ate this with his 'moi' (porridge) for dinner today. He saw me cooking in d kitchen and insisted to have some. We think he is d first to eat with 'moi' lol!

Now I am an expert in cooking this and I know which market sells d best dhal.

Rojak

I can eat this every day. Rojak d local fruit salad.

I hate heh kor (shrimp paste) but I love Rojak where heh kor is one of d main ingredient. Funny me ; )

Roast chicken ala ayam percik

This was what we had for dinner last nite. Finger licking good. The potatoes and carrots were adaptation from western roast chicken.

Prep - a ma's cake

Made these candied orange slices. These beautiful slices will be used as decoration for d cake that I will be baking for a ma's 80th birthday.

ramen noodles@ yataimura qb

The gekikara ramen spicyness level ranges from -2 to 40. I've tried till level 6 which is already super spicy to me. Not sure how to drink the level 40 soup.

The soup is excellent and i normally try to find a balance between enjoying the taste of the soup and indulging my sick fascination for spicyness.

This time around, the level4 is too spicy for me.
My friend took the level7. Someone took a sip of the soup and started sweating immediately. I took a sip and choked.
Good meal.

seafood lunch @ ocean batu maung

Teochew mee tiow
Sweet and sour flower crabs with mantou
Black pepper crab and flower crabs
Remains of the day.


The flower crabs are easier to eat and pick at.
Also Much meatier and absorb more flavor
I seem to remember mum cooking this rather than the normal brown hard shell crabs

Oh ya.. service was slow and they took a while to tell us that the normal hard shelled crabs were out of stock.

Overall 2.5/5 only.

desserts @sarkies

These are the desserts that i prioritized at lunch yesterday.
I was a bit sad as there was no bread pudding but was surprised by a banana strudel.
The filo pastry was amazing.
